May 4th , sees 6o years since the Superga, Torino, Air disaster. Possibly the greatest team ever in Italian Calcio, who were on course for a 5th straight Serie A title, a feat matched only by Juventus.
At that time,( the game Organised by Mazzola , their iconic captain, against Benfica, ) the Toro side were the only Italian football team to play football overseas.
The plane crashed in heavy fog, killing all but 2 of the first team, ( who did not travel ) and the following season, saw the other Serie A teams field junior teams against a Toro side, yet Toro still won the championship.
Torino has never recovered as a football team from this, and only won Serie A in 1976.
I am not a fan of Torino,as such, but show respect for a team that helped shape the history of Italian Football.
